Where the numbers on ScoreMon come from, how they are worked out, and how to report a mistake

Who publishes ScoreMon

ScoreMon (scoremon.com) is a free sports-prediction game with odds and results pages, for players aged 18 and over. It is run under the ScoreMon name, as set out in our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. You can reach us at contact@scoremon.com.

Where the odds come from

Prices come from Pinnacle & Dafabet. Our collector gathers them into one feed. The site reads that feed at most once every 15 minutes, and pages are cached on top of that, so a price you see may already have moved. If the feed can't be reached, pages keep showing the last copy that loaded, for up to 6 hours, rather than going blank. Check the price at the sportsbook before you rely on it.

Fair win probability and margins

The fair win probability on a match card starts from the best price posted for each outcome across the books we carry. Each price becomes an implied probability (1 ÷ decimal odds), and each of those is divided by their total, so the outcomes add up to 100%. This is proportional de-vigging. The result is the market's number, not a forecast of our own.

A book's margin (its overround) is the total of those implied probabilities minus 100%. For example, prices of 2.00 (home), 3.50 (draw) and 4.00 (away) imply 50.0%, 28.6% and 25.0%. That is a margin of 3.6%, and fair probabilities of 48.3%, 27.6% and 24.1%.

We class Pinnacle as the sharp book and Dafabet as the recreational book. The Sharp Report flags a match when Pinnacle's implied probability for a side is at least 6 percentage points higher than Dafabet's.

Results and standings

Final scores come from the score feed our collector archives, and each finished match keeps its own result page.

League standings and recent form come from TheSportsDB.

Track record

We publish our closing-line track record, and each book's margin by league in Bookmaker margins by league.

Team and league names

On pages in languages other than English, team and league names are looked up in a translation table we maintain. A name that isn't in the table is shown the way the feed spells it. The table has had wrong entries; we are correcting them, and we welcome reports of any we have missed.

Affiliate links

Our sportsbook links are affiliate links: we can be paid when a visitor opens an account through one. Dafabet is the partner behind most of them. On our sportsbook reviews, the links for 12 of the other 13 books (Pinnacle among them) currently lead to Dafabet, not to the books they name; one leads to that book's own affiliate programme.

Affiliate deals don't change the sportsbook prices we show. A book's price is shown as the feed reported it, whether or not we are paid for its link.
